“‘Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life.^(L) I am the Lord.

¹⁷ “‘Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart.^(M) Rebuke your neighbor frankly^(N) so you will not share in their guilt.

¹⁸ “‘Do not seek revenge^(O) or bear a grudge^(P) against anyone among your people,^(Q) but love your neighbor^(R) as yourself.^(S) I am the Lord.

Love for Enemies

⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor^[a](A) and hate your enemy.’^(B)

¹⁹ honor your father and mother,’^[a](A) and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’^[b]”^(B)

⁹ The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,”^[a](A) and whatever other command there may be, are summed up^(B) in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”^{[b](C) 10} Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.^(D)
