15-16 These were the same beings I had seen beside the Chebar Canal, and when they rose into the air, the wheels rose with them and stayed beside them as they flew. 17 When the Guardian Angels stood still, so did the wheels, for the spirit of the Guardian Angels was in the wheels.[a]
18 Then the glory of the Lord moved from the door of the Temple and stood above the Guardian Angels.

- Ezekiel 10:17 for the spirit of the Guardian Angels was in the wheels. That is, the wheel was a living part of the bodies of the cherubim. Hence it could not be separated from the cherubim.

16 When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not leave their side. 17 When the cherubim stood still, they also stood still; and when the cherubim rose, they rose with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in them.(A)
18 Then the glory(B) of the Lord departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.(C)
