Ezekiel 18:23-25

²³Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? says the Lord, and not rather that he should turn from his evil way and return [to his God] and live?

²⁴But if the righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? None of his righteous deeds which he has done shall be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die.

²⁵Yet you say, The way of the Lord is not fair and just. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not My way fair and just? Are not your ways unfair and unjust?

²³Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased^(A) when they turn from their ways and live?^(B)

²⁴“But if a righteous person turns^(C) from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness^(D) they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.^(E)

²⁵“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’^(F) Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust?^(G) Is it not your ways that are unjust?
