23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” (A) This is the declaration of the Lord God. “Instead, don’t I take pleasure when he turns from his ways and lives? 24 But when a righteous person turns from his righteousness(B) and acts unjustly, committing the same detestable acts that the wicked do, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered.(C) He will die because of the treachery he has engaged in and the sin he has committed.

25 “But you say, ‘The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’(D) Now listen, house of Israel: Is it my way that is unfair? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?

23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased(A) when they turn from their ways and live?(B)

24 “But if a righteous person turns(C) from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness(D) they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.(E)

25 “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’(F) Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust?(G) Is it not your ways that are unjust?
