Common English Bible
5 People are declared innocent when they act justly and responsibly. 6 They don’t eat on the hills or give their attention to the idols of the house of Israel. They don’t defile the wives of their neighbors or approach menstruating women. 7 They don’t cheat anyone, but fulfill their obligations. They don’t rob others, but give food to the hungry and clothes to the naked.

5 “Suppose there is a righteous man
who does what is just and right.
6 He does not eat at the mountain(A) shrines
or look to the idols(B) of Israel.
He does not defile his neighbor’s wife
or have sexual relations with a woman during her period.(C)
7 He does not oppress(D) anyone,
but returns what he took in pledge(E) for a loan.
He does not commit robbery(F)
but gives his food to the hungry(G)
and provides clothing for the naked.(H)
