Ezekiel 20:14-16
Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
14 But I spared them for the sake of my name, lest it should be profaned before the nations, from which I brought them out, in their sight.
15 So I lifted up my hand over them in the desert, not to bring them into the land which I had given them flowing with milk and honey, the best of all lands.
16 Because they cast off my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, and violated my sabbaths: for their heart went after idols.

New International Version
14 But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned(A) in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.(B) 15 Also with uplifted hand I swore(C) to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands(D)— 16 because they rejected my laws(E) and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts(F) were devoted to their idols.(G)
