37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod [as the shepherd does his sheep when he counts them, and I will count you as Mine and I will constrain you] and bring you into the covenant to which you are permanently bound.(A)
38 And I will purge out and separate from among you the rebels and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they temporarily dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord.(B)
39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: Go, serve every one of you his idols, now and hereafter, if you will not listen to Me! But you shall not profane My holy name any more with your sacrificial gifts and your idols!

37 I will take note of you as you pass under my rod,(A) and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.(B) 38 I will purge(C) you of those who revolt and rebel against me. Although I will bring them out of the land where they are living, yet they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(D)
39 “‘As for you, people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Go and serve your idols,(E) every one of you! But afterward you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name(F) with your gifts and idols.(G)
