6 At that time I promised to bring them out of Egypt to a land that I had chosen for them. This land is the most beautiful land, a land flowing with milk and honey. 7 I said to them, “Get rid of the detestable idols that you look to for help. Don’t dishonor yourselves with the disgusting idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
8 “ ‘But they rebelled against me and refused to listen to me. Not one of them got rid of the detestable idols that they looked to for help. They didn’t abandon the disgusting idols of Egypt. So I was going to pour out my fury on them and unleash my anger on them in Egypt.

6 On that day I swore(A) to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey,(B) the most beautiful of all lands.(C) 7 And I said to them, “Each of you, get rid of the vile images(D) you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols(E) of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.(F)”
8 “‘But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me;(G) they did not get rid of the vile images they had set their eyes on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt.(H) So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in Egypt.(I)
