28 And her [a]prophets have daubed them with untempered mortar, seeing vanities, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord had not spoken.

29 The people of the land have violently oppressed by spoiling and robbing, and have vexed the poor and the needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger against right.

30 And I sought for a man among them, that should [b]make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

28 Her prophets whitewash(A) these deeds for them by false visions and lying divinations.(B) They say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says’—when the Lord has not spoken.(C) 29 The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery;(D) they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner,(E) denying them justice.(F)

30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall(G) and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.(H)
