6 Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose [a]rust is therein, and whose [b]rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen upon it. 7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust. 8 That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.

6 “‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“‘Woe(A) to the city of bloodshed,(B)
to the pot now encrusted,
whose deposit will not go away!
Take the meat out piece by piece
in whatever order(C) it comes.(D)
7 “‘For the blood she shed is in her midst:
She poured it on the bare rock;
she did not pour it on the ground,
where the dust would cover it.(E)
8 To stir up wrath and take revenge
I put her blood on the bare rock,
so that it would not be covered.
