6 Therefore, this is what the Lord God says. Because you regard your wisdom as divine wisdom, 7 therefore, I am about to bring foreigners against you, the most ruthless of nations. They will unsheathe their swords against your beautiful wisdom, and they will desecrate your radiant splendor. 8 They will cast you down to the pit, and you will die a violent death in the heart of the sea.

“‘Because you think you are wise,
as wise as a god,
7 I am going to bring foreigners against you,
the most ruthless of nations;(A)

and pierce your shining splendor.(C)
8 They will bring you down to the pit,(D)
and you will die a violent death(E)
