6 Therefore the Lord God says: “Because you claim that you are as wise as God, 7 an enemy army, the terror of the nations, shall suddenly draw their swords against your marvelous wisdom and defile your splendor! 8 They will bring you to the pit of hell, and you shall die as those pierced with many wounds, there on your island in the heart of the seas.

“‘Because you think you are wise,
as wise as a god,
7 I am going to bring foreigners against you,
the most ruthless of nations;(A)
they will draw their swords against your beauty and wisdom(B)
and pierce your shining splendor.(C)
8 They will bring you down to the pit,(D)
and you will die a violent death(E)
