- Ezekiel 37:15 To keep the attention of his hearers, the prophet follows his usual tack and makes a very simple symbolic gesture. This becomes the starting point for a proclamation that applies to the entire world. All the old divisions will be overcome and all the schisms suppressed. This is the renewed covenant with God! Jesus will bring out the full meaning of this prophesied unity when he speaks of a single flock and a single shepherd (Jn 10:1-18; 11:52; Eph 2:11-22); he is Ezekiel’s new David.
