39 “Son of man,[a] speak against Gog for me. Tell him that this is what the Lord God says: ‘Gog, you are the most important leader of the countries Meshech and Tubal, but I am against you. 2 I will capture you and bring you back. I will bring you from the far north. I will bring you to fight against the mountains of Israel. 3 But I will knock your bow from your left hand and your arrows from your right hand.

- Ezekiel 39:1 Son of man This was usually just a way of saying “a person” or “a human being.” Here, it is a way of addressing Ezekiel. Also in verse 17.

39 “Son of man, prophesy against Gog(A) and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of[a] Meshek(B) and Tubal.(C) 2 I will turn you around and drag you along. I will bring you from the far north(D) and send you against the mountains of Israel.(E) 3 Then I will strike your bow(F) from your left hand and make your arrows(G) drop from your right hand.
