17 The upper ledge was fourteen cubits long and fourteen cubits wide on all four sides. The rim around it was half a cubit, with a channel one cubit all around. The steps faced east.(A)

18 Then he said to me: Son of man, thus says the Lord God: These are the statutes for the altar when it is set up for sacrificing burnt offerings and splashing blood on it.(B) 19 A young bull must be brought as a purification offering to the priests, the Levites descended from Zadok, who come near to serve me—oracle of the Lord God.(C)

17 The upper ledge(A) also is square, fourteen cubits[a] long and fourteen cubits wide. All around the altar is a gutter of one cubit with a rim of half a cubit.[b] The steps(B) of the altar face east.(C)

18 Then he said to me, “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: These will be the regulations for sacrificing burnt offerings(D) and splashing blood(E) against the altar when it is built: 19 You are to give a young bull(F) as a sin offering[c] to the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok,(G) who come near(H) to minister before me, declares the Sovereign Lord.
