13 But this isn’t something that can be done in a day or two, for there are many of us involved in this sinful affair. Everyone who has a heathen wife will come at the scheduled time with the elders and judges of his city; then each case will be decided and the situation will be cleared up, and the fierce wrath of our God will be turned away from us.”

15 Only Jonathan (son of Asahel), Jahzeiah (son of Tikvah), Meshullam, and Shabbethai the Levite opposed this course of action.

Then let everyone in our towns who has married a foreign woman come at a set time, along with the elders and judges(A) of each town, until the fierce anger(B) of our God in this matter is turned away from us.” 15 Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshullam and Shabbethai(C) the Levite, opposed this.
