Amplified Bible
19 and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, with his brothers (relatives) and their sons, 20 men; 20 also 220 of the temple servants, whom David and the leaders had set apart [with their descendants] for the service of the Levites. They were all designated by name.
Protection of God Invoked
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river Ahava, so that we might humble ourselves before our God to seek from Him a safe journey for us, our [a]children, and all our possessions.

19 and Hashabiah, together with Jeshaiah from the descendants of Merari, and his brothers and nephews, 20 in all. 20 They also brought 220 of the temple servants(A)—a body that David and the officials had established to assist the Levites. All were registered by name.
21 There, by the Ahava Canal,(B) I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey(C) for us and our children, with all our possessions.
