8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth. And they stopped building the city. 9 That is where the Lord confused the language of the whole world. So the place is called Babel.[a] So the Lord caused them to spread out from there over all the whole world.

New International Version
8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth,(A) and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[a](B)—because there the Lord confused the language(C) of the whole world.(D) From there the Lord scattered(E) them over the face of the whole earth.
