6 And Abram passed through the land as far as the site of (A)Shechem, to the [a]oak of Moreh. Now the Canaanite was then in the land. 7 Then Yahweh (B)appeared to Abram and said, “(C)To your seed I will give this land.” So he built (D)an altar there to Yahweh who had appeared to him. 8 Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with (E)Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to Yahweh and (F)called upon the name of Yahweh.

New International Version
6 Abram traveled through the land(A) as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh(B) at Shechem.(C) At that time the Canaanites(D) were in the land. 7 The Lord appeared to Abram(E) and said, “To your offspring[a] I will give this land.(F)”(G) So he built an altar there to the Lord,(H) who had appeared to him.
8 From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel(I) and pitched his tent,(J) with Bethel on the west and Ai(K) on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.(L)
