³ For the Lord will comfort Zion;^(A)
He will comfort all her waste places,
and He will make her wilderness like Eden,^(B)
and her desert like the garden of the Lord.^(C)
Joy and gladness will be found in her,
thanksgiving and melodious song.

¹³ You were in Eden,^(A) the garden of God.
Every kind of precious stone covered you:
carnelian, topaz, and diamond,^[a]
beryl, onyx, and jasper,
sapphire,^[b] turquoise^[c] and emerald.^[d]
Your mountings and settings were crafted in gold;^(B)
they were prepared on the day you were created.

⁸ The cedars in God’s garden could not rival it;^(A)
the pine trees couldn’t compare with its branches,
nor could the plane trees match its boughs.
No tree in the garden of God
could compare with it in beauty.
