Genesis 15:10-12
New American Standard Bible
10 Then he [a]brought all these to Him and (A)cut them [b]in two, and laid each half opposite the other; but he (B)did not cut the birds. 11 And birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away.
12 Now when the sun was going down, (C)a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, [c]terror and great darkness fell upon him.

New International Version
10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other;(A) the birds, however, he did not cut in half.(B) 11 Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses,(C) but Abram drove them away.
12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep,(D) and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him.
