13 Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years(A) your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved(B) and mistreated there. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out(C) with great possessions.(D) 15 You, however, will go to your ancestors(E) in peace and be buried at a good old age.(F) 16 In the fourth generation(G) your descendants will come back here,(H) for the sin of the Amorites(I) has not yet reached its full measure.”

The Israelites set out(A) from Rameses(B) on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day after the Passover.(C) They marched out defiantly(D) in full view of all the Egyptians, who were burying all their firstborn,(E) whom the Lord had struck down among them; for the Lord had brought judgment(F) on their gods.(G)

The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Sukkoth.(H)

They left Sukkoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the desert.(I)

They left Etham, turned back to Pi Hahiroth, to the east of Baal Zephon,(J) and camped near Migdol.(K)

They left Pi Hahiroth[a](L) and passed through the sea(M) into the desert, and when they had traveled for three days in the Desert of Etham, they camped at Marah.(N)

They left Marah and went to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped(O) there.

40 The Canaanite king(AH) of Arad,(AI) who lived in the Negev(AJ) of Canaan, heard that the Israelites were coming.

41 They left Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.

42 They left Zalmonah and camped at Punon.

43 They left Punon and camped at Oboth.(AK)

44 They left Oboth and camped at Iye Abarim, on the border of Moab.(AL)

45 They left Iye Abarim and camped at Dibon Gad.

46 They left Dibon Gad and camped at Almon Diblathaim.

47 They left Almon Diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim,(AM) near Nebo.(AN)
