10 And the angel of Jehovah said unto her, I will greatly multiply thy seed, that it shall not be numbered for multitude. 11 And the angel of Jehovah said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son; and thou shalt call his name [a]Ishmael, because Jehovah hath heard thy affliction. 12 And he shall be as a wild ass among men; his hand shall be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell [b]over against all his brethren.

10 The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.”(A)
11 The angel of the Lord(B) also said to her:
“You are now pregnant
and you will give birth to a son.(C)
You shall name him(D) Ishmael,[a](E)
for the Lord has heard of your misery.(F)
12 He will be a wild donkey(G) of a man;
his hand will be against everyone
and everyone’s hand against him,
and he will live in hostility
toward[b] all his brothers.(H)”
