18 Then ^(A)Yahweh appeared to him by the ^[a](B)oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day. ² And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three ^(C)men were standing nearby; he saw, and he ran from the tent door to meet them, and he bowed himself to the earth,

Jacob Wrestles with God

²⁴ Then Jacob was left alone, and a man ^(A)wrestled with him until the ^[a]breaking of dawn.

³⁰ So Jacob named the place ^[a]Peniel, for he said, “^(A)I have seen God face to face, yet my ^[b]life has been delivered.”

³¹ Then Yahweh opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw ^(A)the angel of Yahweh standing in the way with his drawn sword in his hand; and he bowed his head down ^[a]and prostrated himself to the ground.
