³⁴ He spoke, and the locusts came,
    and young locusts without number;^(A)

³⁵ they devoured all the vegetation in their land
    and ate up the fruit of their ground.

³ For the Lord will comfort Zion;
    he will comfort all her waste places
and will make her wilderness like Eden,
    her desert like the garden of the Lord;
joy and gladness will be found in her,
    thanksgiving and the voice of song.^(A)

²⁰ Even the wild animals cry to you
    because the watercourses are dried up,
and fire has devoured
    the pastures of the wilderness.^(A)
