16 Then she went and sat her over against him afar off about a bow shoot: for she said, I will not see the death of the child. And she sat down over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
17 Then God [a]heard the voice of the child, and the Angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not, for God hath heard the voice of the child where he is.
18 Arise, take up the child, and hold him in thine hand: for I will make him a great people.

16 Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought, “I cannot watch the boy die.” And as she sat there, she[a] began to sob.(A)
17 God heard the boy crying,(B) and the angel of God(C) called to Hagar from heaven(D) and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid;(E) God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. 18 Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.(F)”
