Good News Translation

8 The child grew, and on the day that he was weaned, Abraham gave a great feast.

Hagar and Ishmael Are Sent Away

9 One day Ishmael, whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham, was playing with[a] Sarah's son Isaac.[b] 10 (A)Sarah saw them and said to Abraham, “Send this slave and her son away. The son of this woman must not get any part of your wealth, which my son Isaac should inherit.”

Hagar and Ishmael Sent Away

8 The child grew and was weaned,(A) and on the day Isaac was weaned Abraham held a great feast. 9 But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham(B) was mocking,(C) 10 and she said to Abraham, “Get rid of that slave woman(D) and her son, for that woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.”(E)
