Genesis 22:10-12

Good News Translation

¹⁰Then he picked up the knife to kill him. ¹¹But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, “Abraham, Abraham!”

He answered, “Yes, here I am.”

¹²“Don't hurt the boy or do anything to him,” he said. “Now I know that you honor and obey God, because you have not kept back your only son from him.”

New International Version

¹⁰Then he reached out his hand and took the knife^(A) to slay his son.^(B) ¹¹But the angel of the Lord^(C) called out to him from heaven,^(D) “Abraham! Abraham!”^(E)

“Here I am,”^(F) he replied.

¹²“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God,^(G) because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.^(H)”

¹⁰And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

¹¹And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

¹²And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
