29 And Jacob had cooked a dish; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.
30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with the red—the red thing there, for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom.
31 And Jacob said, Sell me now thy birthright.

29 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew,(A) Esau came in from the open country,(B) famished. 30 He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew!(C) I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.[a])(D)
31 Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.(E)”
