29 ¶ And Jacob boiled pottage; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint;
30 and Esau said to Jacob, Give me to eat, I pray thee, of that red pottage; for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom.
31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

29 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew,(A) Esau came in from the open country,(B) famished. 30 He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew!(C) I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.[a])(D)
