30 Then Esau said to Jacob, “Please give me a swallow from the red stuff—[a]this red stuff, for I am [b]famished.” Therefore his name was called [c]Edom. 31 But Jacob said, “[d]First sell me your (A)birthright.” 32 And Esau said, “Behold, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?”

30 He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew!(A) I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.[a])(B)
31 Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.(C)”
32 “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?”
