18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you, and you shall eat its grasses. 19 All your life you will sweat to master it, until your dying day. Then you will return to the ground from which you came. For you were made from the ground, and to the ground you will return.”
20 The man named his wife Eve (meaning “The life-giving one”),[a] for he said, “She shall become the mother of all mankind”;

- Genesis 3:20 Eve (meaning “The life-giving one”). Many Hebrew names are based on puns. In this instance the Hebrew word for Eve sounds similar to a Hebrew word that means “life-giving.”

19 By the sweat of your brow(C)
you will eat your food(D)
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are

20 Adam[a] named his wife Eve,[b](F) because she would become the mother of all the living.
