Genesis 31:40-42
The Voice
40 There I was—at your service—during the day I was hounded by heat; during the night I was cold and couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. 41 For 20 years, I have been in your household. I served you 14 of those years in return for your two daughters, and six years for your flock. And you have altered my payment 10 times. 42 If the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac had not been on my side, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. But God knows my plight and how hard I’ve labored for you, and it was He who reprimanded you last night!
Genesis 31:40-42
New International Version
40 This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes.(A) 41 It was like this for the twenty years(B) I was in your household. I worked for you fourteen years for your two daughters(C) and six years for your flocks,(D) and you changed my wages(E) ten times.(F) 42 If the God of my father,(G) the God of Abraham(H) and the Fear of Isaac,(I) had not been with me,(J) you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands,(K) and last night he rebuked you.(L)”
