Genesis 31:47-49
Good News Translation
47 Laban named it Jegar Sahadutha,[a] while Jacob named it Galeed.[b] 48 Laban said to Jacob, “This pile of rocks will be a reminder for both of us.” That is why that place was named Galeed. 49 Laban also said, “May the Lord keep an eye on us while we are separated from each other.” So the place was also named Mizpah.[c]

47 Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed.[a](A)
48 Laban said, “This heap(B) is a witness between you and me today.”(C) That is why it was called Galeed. 49 It was also called Mizpah,[b](D) because he said, “May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.
