47 Laban gave the stones the name of Jegar-sahadutha. But Jacob gave them the name Galeed. 48 Laban said, “These stones are to stand for the agreement between you and me today.” So they were given the name Galeed. 49 They were given the name of Mizpah also. For Laban said, “May the Lord watch between you and me when we are apart from each other.

48 Laban said, “This heap(B) is a witness between you and me today.”(C) That is why it was called Galeed. 49 It was also called Mizpah,[b](D) because he said, “May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.
