⁴⁹and also Mizpah,^[a]^(A) for he said, “May the Lord watch between you and me when we are out of each other’s sight.

Genesis 31:49

New International Version

⁴⁹It was also called Mizpah,^[a]^(A) because he said, “May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.

⁵³The God of Abraham, and the gods^(A) of Nahor—the gods of their father^[a]—will judge between us.” And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.

⁵³May the God of Abraham^(A) and the God of Nahor,^(B) the God of their father, judge between us.”^(C)

So Jacob took an oath^(D) in the name of the Fear of his father Isaac.^(E)
