¹⁶Then they journeyed from Bethel. When they were still some distance^[a] from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor, and she had hard labor.

¹⁶Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath,^(B) Rachel^(C) began to give birth and had great difficulty.

¹⁹So ^(A)Rachel died, and she was buried on the way to ^(B)Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem),

¹⁹So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath^(A) (that is, Bethlehem^(B)).
