9 After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again. God blessed Jacob. 10 He said to Jacob, ‘Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob. Instead, your name will be Israel.’ So God gave the name Israel to Jacob.[a]
11 Then God said to him, ‘I am Almighty God. Give birth to many children so that your descendants become very many. They will become many nations and some of them will be kings.

9 After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram,[a](A) God appeared to him again and blessed him.(B) 10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob,[b] but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.[c]”(C) So he named him Israel.
11 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty[d];(D) be fruitful and increase in number.(E) A nation(F) and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.(G)
