    the peoples shake their heads^(B) at us.

    for she has defied^(B) the Lord.
Let Moab wallow in her vomit;^(C)
    let her be an object of ridicule.^(D)
27 Was not Israel the object of your ridicule?^(E)
    Was she caught among thieves,^(F)
that you shake your head^(G) in scorn^(H)
    whenever you speak of her?

³⁹ “How shattered^(A) she is! How they wail!
    How Moab turns her back in shame!
Moab has become an object of ridicule,^(B)
    an object of horror to all those around her.”
