²⁹ But as he drew back his hand, behold, his brother came out. And she said, “What a breach you have made for yourself!” Therefore his name was called ^(A)Perez.^[a]

¹² The sons of ^(A)Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but ^(B)Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan); and the sons of ^(C)Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

²⁰ And the sons of Judah according to their clans were: of Shelah, the clan of the Shelanites; of Perez, the clan of the Perezites; of Zerah, the clan of the Zerahites.

⁴ His daughter-in-law ^(A)Tamar also bore him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.

³ and ^(A)Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram,^[a]
