19 When his master heard the words that his wife spoke to him, saying, “This is the way your servant treated me,” he became enraged.(A) 20 And Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined; he remained there in prison.(B) 21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love; he gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer.(C)

New International Version
19 When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, “This is how your slave treated me,” he burned with anger.(A) 20 Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison,(B) the place where the king’s prisoners were confined.
But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the Lord was with him;(C) he showed him kindness(D) and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.(E)
