⁵ but ^(A)for Cain and his offering He had no regard. So ^(B)Cain became very angry and his face ^[a]was gloomy. ⁶ Then the Lord said to Cain, “^(C)Why are you angry? And why is your face ^[b]gloomy? ^7 (D)If you do well, ^[c]will your face not be ^[d]cheerful? ^(E)And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; and its desire is for you, ^(F)but you must master it.” ⁸ Cain ^[e]talked to his brother Abel; and it happened that when they were in the field Cain rose up against his brother Abel and ^(G)killed him.

¹² not as ^(A)Cain, who was of ^(B)the evil one and murdered his brother. And for what reason did he murder him? Because ^(C)his own deeds were evil, but his brother’s were righteous.
