42 (A) Then the king took off his royal ring and put it on Joseph's finger. He gave him fine clothes to wear and placed a gold chain around his neck. 43 He also let him ride in the chariot next to his own, and people shouted, “Make way for Joseph!” So Joseph was governor of Egypt.

44 The king told Joseph, “Although I'm king, no one in Egypt is to do anything without your permission.”

He dressed him in robes(B) of fine linen(C) and put a gold chain around his neck.(D) 43 He had him ride in a chariot(E) as his second-in-command,[a](F) and people shouted before him, “Make way[b]!”(G) Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.(H)

44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.”(I)
