5 But if you will not let him leave, we will not go because of what that man told us: ‘You shall not come into my presence if you do not have your brother with you.’ ”
6 Israel said, “Why have you done this evil thing to me, to let that man know that you had another brother?”
7 They answered, “That man interrogated us, demanding to know about us and our family: ‘Is your father still alive? Do you have some other brothers?’ and we answered his questions. How could we know that he would have said, ‘Bring your brother here’?”

5 But if you will not send him, we will not go down, because the man said to us, ‘You will not see my face again unless your brother is with you.(A)’”
6 Israel(B) asked, “Why did you bring this trouble(C) on me by telling the man you had another brother?”
7 They replied, “The man questioned us closely about ourselves and our family. ‘Is your father still living?’(D) he asked us. ‘Do you have another brother?’(E) We simply answered his questions. How were we to know he would say, ‘Bring your brother down here’?”(F)
