Genesis 50:4-6
New English Translation
4 When the days of mourning[a] had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s royal court,[b] “If I have found favor in your sight, please say to Pharaoh,[c] 5 ‘My father made me swear an oath. He said,[d] “I am about to die. Bury me[e] in my tomb that I dug for myself there in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go and bury my father; then I will return.’” 6 So Pharaoh said, “Go and bury your father, just as he made you swear to do.”[f]

4 When the days of mourning(A) had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s court,(B) “If I have found favor in your eyes,(C) speak to Pharaoh for me. Tell him, 5 ‘My father made me swear an oath(D) and said, “I am about to die;(E) bury me in the tomb I dug for myself(F) in the land of Canaan.”(G) Now let me go up and bury my father;(H) then I will return.’”
6 Pharaoh said, “Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear to do.”
