¹³ One of the survivors came and told Abram the Hebrew,^(A) who lived near the oaks belonging to Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and the brother of Aner. They were bound by a treaty with^[a] Abram.

Abraham’s Three Visitors

18 Then the Lord appeared to Abraham at the oaks of Mamre^(A) while he was sitting in the entrance of his tent during the heat of the day.

¹⁷ So Ephron’s field^(A) at Machpelah near Mamre—the field with its cave and all the trees anywhere within the boundaries of the field—became ¹⁸ Abraham’s possession in the presence of all the Hittites who came to the gate of his city. ¹⁹ After this, Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field at Machpelah near Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan.
