¹³ Then God said to Abram, “Know for certain that ^(A)your ^[a]descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, ^[b]where ^(B)they will be enslaved and oppressed for ^(C)four hundred years.

⁵ And you shall respond and say before the Lord your God, ‘^(A)My father was a ^[a]wandering Aramean, and he went down to Egypt and ^[b]resided there, ^(B)few in number; but there he became a ^(C)great, mighty, and populous nation.
