¹³ Then God said to Abram, “Know for certain that ^(A)your ^[a]descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, ^[b]where ^(B)they will be enslaved and oppressed for ^(C)four hundred years. ¹⁴ But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out ^(D)with ^[c]many possessions. ¹⁵ As for you, ^(E)you shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age. ¹⁶ Then in ^(F)the fourth generation they will return here, for ^(G)the wrongdoing of the Amorite is not yet complete.”

^4 (A)I will go down with you to Egypt, and ^(B)I will also assuredly bring you up again; and ^(C)Joseph will ^[a]close your eyes.”

²⁴ Joseph said to his brothers, “^(A)I am about to die, but God will assuredly ^[a]take care of you and bring you up from this land to the land which He ^[b]promised on oath to ^(B)Abraham, to ^(C)Isaac, and to ^(D)Jacob.” ²⁵ Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, “God will assuredly ^[c]take care of you, and ^(E)you shall carry my bones up from here.”

⁶ Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘^(A)I am the Lord, and ^(B)I will bring you out from under the labors of the Egyptians, and I will rescue you from their bondage. I will also ^(C)redeem you with ^(D)an outstretched arm, and with great judgments. ⁷ Then I will take you ^[a](E)as My people, and ^(F)I will be ^[b]your God; and ^(G)you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the labors of the Egyptians. ⁸ I will bring you to the land which ^(H)I ^[c]swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and ^(I)I will give it to you as a possession; ^(J)I am the Lord.’”

⁵¹ And on that very day ^(A)the Lord brought the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt ^(B)according to their ^[a]multitudes.
