²³ Now swear^(A) to me here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or my descendants.^(B) Show to me and the country where you now reside as a foreigner the same kindness I have shown to you.”^(C)

²⁸ They answered, “We saw clearly that the Lord was with you;^(A) so we said, ‘There ought to be a sworn agreement between us’—between us and you. Let us make a treaty^(B) with you

¹⁵ I am with you^(A) and will watch over you^(B) wherever you go,^(C) and I will bring you back to this land.^(D) I will not leave you^(E) until I have done what I have promised you.^(F)”^(G)

³ Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Go back^(A) to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”^(B)

⁵ He said to them, “I see that your father’s^(A) attitude toward me is not what it was before,^(B) but the God of my father has been with me.^(C)

⁴² If the God of my father,^(A) the God of Abraham^(B) and the Fear of Isaac,^(C) had not been with me,^(D) you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands,^(E) and last night he rebuked you.^(F)”

² The Lord was with Joseph^(A) so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.

³ When his master saw that the Lord was with him^(A) and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did,^(B)

¹⁹ The Lord was with^(A) Samuel as he grew^(B) up, and he let none^(C) of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.
