²⁶ And Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is it for us to kill our brother and ^(A)cover up his blood? ^27 (B)Come, and let’s sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him, for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And his brothers listened to him.

⁵ Now do not be grieved or angry ^[a]with yourselves because ^(A)you sold me here, for ^(B)God sent me ahead of you ^[b]to save lives.

⁷ So ^(A)God sent me ahead of you to ensure for you a remnant on the earth, and to ^[a]keep you alive by a great deliverance.
